Greetings from Nebraska!

I've been keeping fish for almost five years now. I started with a Betta when I was thirteen and worked my way up to Corydoras, Tetras, etc.

I'm hoping to save up my birthday money (plus money from jobs I do) to get a 55 gallon aquarium or something around that size. Any good ideas for fish that I might put in with Neon Tetras, Corydoras Catfish and Otocinclus? Also, I know my mom really likes Angelfish. Would they be compatible with those fish I listed?

I'm thinking maybe some Rummy-nosed Tetras would look nice with my Neons.

Welcome to Fishlore!
I'm not sure how Angels would get along with the smaller tankmates. I know they can be aggressive eaters and get a bit territorial, though.
Glassfish are hard to find (at least, the unpainted ones can be), but I have found that they make excellent tankmates for neons. My neons and glassfish actually school together, which is kind of neat.
A guorami, such as a dwarf guorami or a blue guorami, might make good larger fish if the angels don't work out.

The angels might nip at or even eat the neon's but that mainly depends on the fish. If you have it well planted and hiding places for the neons that should be fine. They are found in nature together and are a natural food source for angels. The corys and otos should be perfectly fine. A good way to prevent any aggression is to let the fish you have listed into the tank. Let them establish their territories and after about a month(just to give them plenty of time) add the angels. That way they feel like a guest in the other fishes territory and aren't AS aggressive.

Also a 55 gallon is a perfect size for angels. I would get 2 angels, 10 or so neons, 5 corys, and a couple otos. That would stock your tank fairly well.

Hope that helps,
Cory

Welcome to Fishlore.

Some angels may work with those fish. The Corys and Otos are most likely safe, especially if they're in there first and you start out with some younger, small angels. The neon tetras are kind of 50/50 I think and it depends on the personalities of the angels.. especially if you get a pair that buddy up or a mating pair.

I would recommend that you have 6 of each of the fish that you have now. They're all social and would love that. I kinda like the glass catfish and xray tetras.
