Re: Newbie

Hi Butterfly, Im not very good at using my brain too much so I might be wrong but when trying to convert inches and centimetres with the chart I had my tank is 26.8 gallons. I know my tank is a bit crowded but arent the neons and guppies cute, bear in mind it is my sons tank, hes only 7. I feed them tropical flake food, bloodworms alternatively and pleco tablets. I also give them a tubifex once a week as a treat.
I dont understand the ph or nitrate part of caring for fish so I do a 3rd to half water change every sunday with a syphon thing from the pet shop that clears the poo out of the gravel.I have 2 filters, 1 a stingray and the other is a fluval, a thermostat water heater and plants and ornaments. If I think the water is getting mucky through the week I will do a 1|4 water change but I dont like doing that too much cos I'm scared Im pestering the fish too much and am scaring them. So far theres only been 2 fish die on me in5 months so I must be doing ok,they were a dalmation molly and a platy.
Remembering I said it was my sons tank I'm the one who has to do all the work and didnt realise how commited you have to be to keep a tropical tank but I enjoy them and so do my children, even the dog sits for hours watching them swimming around.

Re: Newbie

It is a little crowded but you sound like your compensating by doing extra water changes. Keep it up yes the little neons and guppies are so cute.
