Hi There!

so hello there,

I have had fish all my life(I'm almost 21 lol), but only goldfish, bettas, and various types of alge eaters as well as snails. I have a bunch of tanks including many many 1 gallon tanks and bowls some 2 gallons a 3 gallon a 5 gallon tank as well as a 10 gallon a 30 gallon and a 46 gallon. Right now the 46 gallon has 2 snails and a pleco. It had goldfish in it a few months ago and after they died(not sure why they died) the pleco was the surviver and has been on his own. The 3 gallon has 3 female bettas in it.

here are a few pictures of my 46 gallon. It has no plants right now because we were afraid the live plants may have had some disease that killed the fish.

My pleco, his name is Versace.

Welcome to Fishlore.

I would recommend seperate tanks for bettas or at least a 6g (preferrably 20g+) for those 3 females.

thanks for the welcome.

oh don't worry though, the female bettas love each other. They get along great, never fighting. Its the males that should be housed away from other bettas. My lovely girls have been together since they were born and they are going on 4 years old.

Hi Welcome to Fish Lore.

I'm glad your betta are doing well together, some people don't have that luck, but 3g for 3 betta doesn't give them any room to swim.

Welcome to Fishlore. It's awesome that your girls are getting along. Dave (BettaCouple) is right that this isn't very much room for them to swim, though.
It's amazing the difference that a larger tank can make on the coloring/attitude of a fish. We've had so many people who had been keeping their bettas in bowls (because that's what pet stores tell them they should do) switch to 5-10g tanks and come back amazed that their bettas have shown so much more personality and brighter colors.

Four things to remember about 99% of the advice around here:
1) It is with the interest of both you and your fish in mind. We want to see everyone's tanks succeed because it makes for happier aquarists, as well as happier fish.
2) It is based on our collective experience (this includes your experience, now, BTW).
3) It is not infallible. Despite the fact that it is based on the experience of all of the members, there are exceptions (such as your sorority tank working out for so long) to almost all of the "rules" that we state. Aside from that, since we sometimes disagree on things, not everything we say is necessarily 100% right. (I even sometimes disagree with Dave, who has provided much of the knowledge that I now have)
4) You don't have to abide by it.

Neat Pleco. Those patterns are going to look great as it grows bigger.
Sorry to hear about your goldfish.
