Hello everybody

I just registered and wanted to put a little bit about myself on here.
I live in Kansas about 65 miles south of Kansas City. I am married for 27 years and have an 18 year old son.
I keep 2 aquariums. I have an 80 gallon with Rainbows, Barbs. 2 Dojo Loaches and a Sailfin Pleco. I also have a 37 gallon that is my South American tank. I keep Tetras and Cories in that one. The 37 gallon is my oldest and I have had it running for something like 8 years and the 80 gallon for a little over 7 years.
This is one of my hobbies and I'd have more tanks running except I ran out of room.
Any questions about me just ask.

Thanks Drea. I was a member of a forum like this back when I started this hobby and it shut down years ago so I just went on my own research rampage and kind of taught myself. However I would never say I was an expert by any means.
I really enjoy all my animals but my fish are kind of my passion and I still spend hours in front of the tanks..

Yeah the rainbows are my favorites too. Especially the Glossolepsis Incisus! (New Guinea Red) But the Herbertaxelrodi are really cool too when you get a a good male. I started on the rainbows with 3 Melonataenia Splendida and it kept going from there. Since then I've had Lacustris, Marci, Maccullochi, Madagascar, Dwarf Neon and Boesmani besides the other 2 I mentioned. They are awesome fish to keep as long as you stay up on the water changes. I like to do a 25% change once a month because my plants do better than if I do changes more often. I keep them in my 80 gallon.

Hi Oheady
I started with the M. Splendida myself and fell in love with them. Ive only started keeping them about three/four months or so ago. I have boesemans and the reds as well.
I had been doing water changes every three days because I had them in with my Discus for awhile. Now that I have moved the Discus, after finding out the temp was too high for the bows, I will be going to doing partial wc's once a week now. Some day my plans are for my 55g to be an all bows tank.

My 80 was an all bows tank except for the pleco and dojos for several years but yesterday I added some rosey and gold barbs to it. It seems my bows generally only live 3 or 4 years and I had lost a few to old age. I put the barbs in because I was starting to get low on fish in that tank and couldn't afford any new rainbows.
My extra money that would have gone to my fish is going to my son for all that Senior year in High School stuff. Next year should be even more fun with paying for his books in College. Luckily tuition for him will be free since I work at a college.
