New from Denver

Hello,
We just picked up a used 30 gallon tank and are waiting for it to cycle. We've also got 2 border collies, 1 cat, and a bunch of motorsports hobbies that fill up the garage

I've always wanted a fish tank so I'm glad we found such a good deal on ours. Now if it would only cycle faster, LOL.

Pleasure to have you with us!!!

If you can find a product called biospira it will cycle your tank instantly.

Hi, Firecracker, WELCOME TO FISHLORE!

There are several Coloradians here, you should feel right at home!

Research the fish you want before you go to the store to buy, that way you will be sure not to overstock. As Dino said, IF you can find Bio-Spria, get your tank all set up and add it (has to be refregerated till use), then get the fish and add right away.

The other ways to cycle require so much work, and waiting so the fish are safe....thats the reason we recommend the bio-spira. (DON'T use the product Cycle, it's not the same!) Good Luck !

Yep, already did a bunch of reading about which/how many fish, just waiting now.

The day we bought a bubbler, heater, filter, test kit, substrate, water treatment, etc. I was told that I'd spent enough and I could just wait for the tank to cycle on its own. My fiance was having sticker shock over all the $$ we spent.

It's OK, the ammonia is down and nitrites are coming down so we're halfway there. I'm going to get some plants planted in in the mean time. I'll be ready for fish in another week or two.

It's a shock for sure! When the sticker shock wears off, is about time to buy fish....which can send you there all over again.

The only thing that has helped in our house is I just SOLD some Cherry Red Shrimp! My sweety, had a smile about that one!

Ha, you're going to laugh ... I've never been to a Broncs game. I'm not a native though, I haven't grown up with the Bronco fever everybody here has. I have been to see the Avs play, though. I like hockey.

Our house is way too tiny for any more right now Even this one seems really big in the living room. It is the tall-squarish type, not the flat type, so it seems to stick way out into the room.

Welcome to Fishlore.. and trust me, if you guys really get into your fish like some of us have, you'll find space for other tanks.. our friends always tell us they feel like they're in some kind of 'Sea World' whenever they come over to our place to hang out!

An official welcome to Fishlore. I've not gotten over to a Broncos game either since moving here, but been to see the Avs.. back when they were at the top.

haha, neither of us are into sports that much, so I don't even know how any of the teams are doing right now.

We went down to the Fish Den the other night. They have TONS of fish! Seemed like a nice shop, the guy who helped us was knowledgeable and friendly and looked like he should be out at the skate park or something I dress like a preppie now that I have a desk job but I would much rather be a tattooed punk
