Hi from Toronto
I've actually been on Fishlore for about a month, but haven't done this yet, so here goes:
-My name is Andrew and I'm 22.
-I was born and raised in Newfoundland, and moved to Toronto in 2004.
-I play drums, guitar, bass guitar, and sometimes I sing when no one's in earshot. I've played in 9 or 10 bands and am currently deciding on a new one. My favorite bands include Ozzy Osbourne, Rush, Dream Theater, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Slayer, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Rolling Stones, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Yngwie Malmsteen, KISS, Quiet Riot, etc.
-I love photography, and my photo-hosting page is in my signature, below.
-I'm in my final year of undergraduate study as a psychology major.
-I enjoy fishing, and have caught a nice variety of fish since moving here. Maybe Ontario just has more species of freshwater fish than Newfoundland.
-I've had several pets over the years, including hamsters, turtles, fish, rabbits, and a parrot. Other family members have had other pets and we've almost always had a dog. Currently I have a maroon-bellied conure named Terrance, who I bought in 2005, and a 25-gallon tropical freshwater tank that I got for Christmas and started in early January. At the moment, I have 5 leopard danios, 5 neon tetras, 5 guppies, 4 black phantom tetras, 1 highfin swordtail and 1 dwarf gourami. I've lost 11 fish since the beginning (at one point I had 29 fish) but none have died since Monday, so something's been going right. I had a 10-gallon tropical freshwater tank as a teenager in Newfoundland, with guppies, possibly neons, a male betta, mollies, swordtails...a pleco, maybe others, I'm not sure. Anyway, that tank broke before we moved, sometime after it was emptied out, and now I have a bigger tank. I decide this time to try some of the fish I'd had before, and some that I'd never had, such as the gourami and black phantom tetras.
-I also see the potential of having more than one tank in the future...haha.

Hi, OzzyFan, WELCOME TO FISHLORE !
Hope you enjoy your fishlorian experience....we like to tailor our help and advice to suit your needs. Feel free to jump right in and post often.
If you are into photography, we also love to see pictures of your tank.
Just to let you know I did check out what you posted about your tank, I have two suggestions. 110 Nitrate is extremely high, you need to do 25% water changes until it comes down to NO higher than 20...This will take several days and quite a few changes. Also you are currently stocked with approx. 43" adult size on your fish, which would suggest you need a tank at least 50 gallons...It will help you be successful, with fewer fatalities. Good Luck and see you round the forum...

Hey Susitna-flower,
That nitrate reading was actually from late January, and I've done two 40% changes and one 20% change since then...and I'll be doing another 20% or 40% change tomorrow. I don't know what the numbers are now; i had it tested at a pet store. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to test it again! Particularly if I'm going to get another plant or two anyway.
Once I get some good pictures of my tank and its inhabitants, I'll post some. I've gotten pretty picky over what constitutes a high-quality pic, and I'm not sure how high or low the standards are for photos on this website. But I'll have something up soon enough! Do you mean posting pics to my personal gallery? The photos forum?

Welcome to the site man.. we share similar tastes in music except maybe for Yngwie Malmsteen.. I just can't seem to get into his music, although some friends of mine who have a rock/reggae band from Trinidad called 'Orange Sky' opened for him a coupla summers ago in the U.S. and are getting ready to hit the road with him again soon, and they say he's a pretty cool guy.

Hi and welcome to fishlore! Hopefully you will find this forum very helpful like I have. Everyone here has taught me a lot and hopefully you will have a good experience with it as well. Everyone here is very helpful. It's great having a group of people to talk to who share the same passion. You won't find that everywhere. Anyways, welcome, and good luck with your tank.
PS: I do agree with Susitna-Flower. You need to remove some of the fish from your tank, or you will have a lot of water problems and your fish will start dying

hi there, I was just looking at your pictures and I saw your pictures from Gravenhurst. that was cool for me because I grew up with a cottage in Gravenhurst and its on of the few things I miss about Ontario so it was nice to see pictures. enjoy the lakes i moved to dry land were there are great mountains but no lakes.

^ That was one of my parents' friend's cottages, if you're referring to my Flickr pics. It was a nice place to visit.
