| Aloha all,
New here and "new" to fish keeping. Had some when I was younger, the unknown nitrogen cycle kept my piggy bank pretty low Have decided to get back into it and want to intro my boys to the experience (with more education this time around).
Will have more questions than comments, at least initially Guess that is it for now...
Aloha,
HIPunch |

| Hey I thought I would introduce my self. I am 26 with a 5 year old and currently going to school in Northern Idaho. I found my way here whilst trying to identify some Algae growing on drift wood in my 55gal tank. (Figured out it was ok )
I started keeping fish a couple years ago when I was living in the barracks, and needed something to do. I found it very relaxing, and while I had to get rid of those fish when I got of the Army and moved, I have since Acquired more.
Presently I have a 55gal tank, a 20 gal tank, and two 10 gal. I am keeping a variety of cichlids, barbs and loaches throughout them all as well as a couple sharks (bala, rainbow). I hope to get bigger tanks someday when I have an actual house, perhaps even a fish room. |

| New to Fishlore Hi Everyone! I have had fish for about 2 years. It started with my sons 10g. freshwater. Then I upgraded him to a 20g.. I enjoyed it so much (I say I because he didn't do the maintanance) that I decided to get a SW reef tank. I bought one already set up (mistake!) it had aptisia(sp?) and green hair algae!! Long story short after a year of SW I decided to go back to what I enjoyed FW.
So, that is what I am in the process of doing now.
I was going to give my 75g reef set-up to a friend of a friend and go back to a 20g. When I told Kevin the fish guy @ the fish store that, he said that I could bring in all my LR and polyps and fish and get store credit!!! So I did. I received enough to completely do a planted aquarium! THANKS KEVIN!! You ROCK! So, I have been doing plant and fish research for about 3 week and cleaning my 75g to get it ready. I am very excited about doing a planted tank. This site has great info so, I decided to become a member. |

| Hello all,
My name is Mike and I'm a newb to saltwater. Luckily my brother is into the hobby and has been a huge help. However it's been 10 years since he had a tank running so his info is a little out of date. I'm in week 3 of cycling my 46 gal bowfront Oceanic and I'm in love already. Planning on going Reef once it's all ready to go! Currently it's FOWLR. Fish being a few damsels and a couple chromis. Up to 20 lbs of LR now, but I'm very picky so usually bring home 5 lbs of choice rock per trip to the LFS.
Thanks for having me! |

| Hi All, and greetz from Benoni, South Africa.
My name is craig and I've been bitten by the bug.
It started with a Crowntail betta (Lou Cipher) in a small display tank thingy, which grew to a 2 ft long on my work desk
now Lou's companions are 6 fancy /fantail guppies with attitude!!!!
I'm probably going to be mostly lurking - but come december I'm planning on starting a planted tank, and fishlore has become my bible WRT finding out about the little critters.
cheers

| 'ello! I'm Kairi, 19, goldfish lover, known at my university as the "Goldfish Guru." I care for my twelve fish as well as the university Mob of nineteen fish. My fiancé jokes that the only children we are ever going to have are scaly.
Goldfish are incredibly exciting to me, and over the last eight months I have watched my four babies grow from $0.15, 1.5 inch feeders to eight inch flake-munching machines. Also, whenever Petsmart actually has 10 gallon tank dividers IN STOCK (grrrr), the Siamese fighters I have will upgrade to five gallons each instead of the 2.5 they each currently swim in.
My fiancé (he says hello) doesn't have an account, but wants me to mention that he has a 5" green terror cichlid named Zeus. Whenever one of us comes home, we shout, "HEY-ZEUS!" Last edited by Cobalt Kairi; November 28th, 2009 at 01:08 AM.

| Howdy !! I've been a member of FishLore for a couple years now, just getting around to introducing myself now. It all started 2 years ago with a 10g community tank for my college age son, who was home recuperating from surgery. We were looking for something to prevent him from going stir crazy while being laid-up. Little did I know that it was just the beginning...
We now have 2x29g, 1x20g long & 1x10g, along with a few empty tanks I'm trying to set-up. [2x29g, 2x55g, 1x45g tall] Since my husband doesn't quite understand why I want more - it takes a bit of wrangling to talk him into each one. I'm making progress though-this weekend he agreed I could set-up 1 of the 55g & trade the 10g for a 29g. Yeah!!
In addition to MTS - we also have MPS "Multiple Pet Syndrome" Does this even exist Currently our brood consists of:
Rainbows(8), Neon Tetras(5), White Skirt Tetra (4), Blood-Fin Tetra(1), Tiger Barb(3) Zebra Danio(1), Long Fin Blue Danio(1), Veil-tail Goldfish(2), Comet Goldfish(2), Chinese Algae Eater(2)
1 dog - Lady, English Cocker Spaniel
1 cat - Mao, Orange Tabby (Mao is chinese for cat) He's our Chief Laser-Spot chaser!
1 parrot - JoJo, Umbrella Cockatoo "Self-Appointed" Ear Drum Tester
This site has been indispensable whenever I've needed fish/aquarium info. My father had an aquarium when I was growing up, but that was back when water changes only happened when the water became too cloudy to see the fish or the aquarium needed to be relocated. He did have the most beautiful angelfish though - unfortunately I haven't found anything similar around here. Maybe they don't exist anymore or my memory is exaggerating their beauty. Anyways, I've had & will no doubt continue to have questions. Thanks for a great site which makes looking for the answer fun!
Right now I'm trying to figure out the best way to set-up the new 55g & move-up to the 29g. I'll post my question later tonight in the appropriate thread. I just wanted to introduce myself first.
Thanks for reading,

| Hi! I'm Vicky. I have many, many interests...sometimes too many, I think! LOL...Love animals, have 2 hunting dogs (love to hunt as well) and one chihuahua that doesn't count as a dog, at least she doesn't think she's a dog, but our cat does! I tend to attract the strangest pets...I currently have a 10 gallon guppy tank and am looking for a bigger tank. My husband thinks I'm crazy, but he enjoys my fishies as much as I do! We both have Harley's and ride whenever we get the chance, I'm a mother of two fabulous grown children who I adore (they also think I'm crazy...lol). That's about it!
I'm SO glad I found this website! Seems that the teenage girls that work at my local fish store are only somewhat knowledgeable, but moreso that some of the big pet store chains, for sure. |
