| Hello Jia!!
I am a newbie too.....75 gal tank which is all set up now and just amazes me every day how much joy my little fish give me. I have also decided I need more tanks... more is better!! Actually I would like to get a 5gal tank and keep a betta fish, they are so beautiful and I always feel bad that fish stores sell them in little0.5 gal tanks where they have no room at all. Welcome!! |

| Time to say hello and stop just lurking around here. I found this site while researching my new tank and filter.
I don't remember how young I was when we got our first goldfish bowl... which quickly expanded to a 30gal. Then I moved out from home during university and discovered Bettas. At any given time I kept between 1 and 4, at work, at home, etc. My passion renewed with some goldfish in a 5 gal when hubby and I got our first apartment. Then grew to a 20 gal. freshwater that I kept for the last 12 years until my hubby and mom-in-law bought me a beautiful Fluval Vicenza 39.8 gal bowfront with stand for Christmas 2010.
I live close to the middle of nowhere so at times fish variety is very limited here. We often have to request species from our LFS, but it is a good, reliable store. (The other FS is a big box store here. Yes, that's all there really is.)
Now that the Vicenza is cycled and running smoothly I'm headed to the LFS tomorrow to buy some angels!! |

| Hi everybody! Didn't see this thread till now, figured I should introduce myself. My name is Alexis (lexi for short), I am married to the man of my dreams( and nightmares lol), I have two beautiful boys, and one angelbaby who would have been four this year. We got our first tank in november, which has quickly turned into four tanks now, with plans for one more. I found Fishlore in November, but didn't join until January and didn't get the courage to start posting until last week( huge phobia of embarassing myself). Aside from our fishy friends we have two cats, Fluffy and Kirah. It's nice to meet everyone, and I apologize in advance for any typos, I post from my smartphone, and my spelling is horrid, so sorry... and again hi! |

| Hi all!
Wooooo!
Finally found somewhere I can discuss fishies (sic)!!!
I used to have goldfish when I was younger, and my friend had a nice tropical tank which I was always jealous of.
Now I've just got married ( 3 weeks ago ) and "agreed" to buy my wife a tank - She doesn't realize I wanted it all along
The more I read the more I realise this maybe a difficult tank to get along with - but its what I've got for now - a fluval Edge. Its going to be tropical, but I've gone for a different heater from the fluval one after seeing loads of reports of them frying fish o_O
Not sure what fish I'm hoping to get, I need to get a test kit and check the water - its been running a few days and it came with the solution which says you can add fish right away?!
I need to also search out some good local fish stores (LFS?) for supplies as the only place I know of at the moment is a "PetSmart" or whatever name they've changed to now. While all their fish do seem to be kept well (which never used to be the case) I'm still uncertain from buying from them when I'm unsure myself of what I want (or should have as a beginner).
-------
Lol I forgot anything "about" me. - I work in IT, love working with computers but am slowly picking up some hobbies which have nothing to do with computers to allow me to relax some times too I grow cacti and other plants, have started karate and now fish too Sounds like a wonderful combination to me ) Last edited by djsmiley2k; March 15th, 2011 at 04:47 AM.

| My name is Ashley and my family has always had fish since before I can remember. When I was in high school we went on a family vacation and the person who we asked to feed our fish while we were gone failed to do so, and when we returned most of our fish had died except for a couple of tetras and our pleco. Sadly, after that event we didn't restock our tank and before I left for college our last fish died and we retired our two tanks into storage. Upon reaching the first semester of my junior year of college I decided that I wanted a fish tank (with my boyfriend's encouragement) and now I'm re-submerged in this amazing hobby. Of course it was a bit rough at first, but I'm learning fast and have two cute and happy clownfish (Dimples and Chuckles). I'm very glad to have a place to ask questions and learn more about how to keep fish happy and healthy.
A bit about myself: I'm a student at the University of Wisconsin-Stout studying Applied Science, concentrating in Biotechnology. My only other hobbies include playing video games, watching movies, and reading tons of books, all between endless hours of homework. |

| Hi everone Hello to all on here, just to introduce myself, my name is Fred and I'm from Redcar in England. Although I have kept tropical fish for many years (in places like Saudi Arabia, the Sahara desert and various offices in different companies in the UK) I took up keeping fish seriously last year when I retired. Then I found out how much I didnt know about it. I have trawled many forums and have found this one most informative, so I have joined to try to improve and update my knowledge. Thanks for having me, Fred |
