| Hello,
Just joined. Used to be on a forum and really learned alot until it got cluttered and clogged. This site seems very organized and well moderated. I've enjoyed reading some of the posts and looking at pictures. I have a 55g tank and have been inspired to do some seascaping after seeing the one link. Along with my fish, I have a German Shepard and two cats. Trying to talk the hubby into upgrading to 100g. Any suggestions for persuasion tactics? |

| Good thought. He already has a red-tail shark, maybe if I go for the more "manly" fish he just might go for the idea of a bigger tank. |

| Hi all, I'm Rhiannon I've been a member for a few weeks now, but it's taken me a little bit to actually introduce myself. I've asked questions on threads here before and recieved genuinely helpful, kind, knowledgable replies. Now actually introducing myself seems like the hard bit!
Basically I'm a 19 year old Uni student (studying Arts/Science, majoring in Psychology and Biology respectively) who's family has kept a small fish tank for years. In the last few months I have become more interested in fish and trying to find out as much as possible about them so I may give them the best lives I can That's where this forum has come in. I have been lurking for a while before becoming a member, and now finally introducing myself. A slow process! I have a tropical freshwater 2ft long 40litre tank (had it since I was about 8years old) and a new tropical freshwater 160litre tank. And there are the beginnings of plans for a bigger tank in the future
Aside from fish, I have a female beagle called Billie and a male cockatiel called Butch (which has progressed to Butchie over time). I am interested in animals, footy, films, books and tennis.
Sorry it took me so long to get around to this, I hope it doesn't seem rude. |

| Hello everyone! Hi to all. I'm from Ottawa, Canada and have just recently bought some Balloon Belly Mollies. They are quite nice to watch, and already come to the top of the tank when I'm going to feed them. Any and all info for a beginner is appreciated. |

| Hello everybody just joined and decided to say hello. I'm currently in the process of a fishless cycling of my 10 gallon tank, going to put hopefully a male betta in when finished. I also have an africian sideneck turtle for over a year now called Genghis. My only other experiences, which were with goldfish were ill fated due to lack of education on my part but thanks to browsing through the forums the past few weeks I look forward to providing my betta with a happy home |

| Just want to say hello Hello Fish-folks
I'm a stay at home mom with 3 small kids from South Africa. We live happily on a small piece of land with a cat, dogs, geese, turtles in our little dam, plenty of beautiful birdlife and the call of jackal (fox-like animal) every night. We also have a fish eagle around here that I here often but haven't seen yet.
I started out the dumb way with fishkeeping: 2 goldfish in a little bowl. Now, more than a year later I'm convinced that pet shops (3 in my area) know allmost nothing about fishkeeping. From that little bowl I went to a 14 liter (3 1/2 g) tenk and the fish kept on dying. I actually had a common pleco in there... Poor fish.
Then I found FISHLORE.COM! A new world opened up to me. Why did nobody ever tell my about the nitrogen cycle? So, after a lot of research, my tank was set up on 1 Aug. 2010.
250 liters (65g I think). Planted community tank with rocks and a big piece of driftwood with the following inhabitants: 5 black skirt tetras, 6 pink danios, 9 small fish (shaped like danios), allmost see-through with red tails (can't remember the name?!), 1 sky blue dwarf gourami, 1 bala shark, 1 sailfin pleco, 4 baby bristlenose plecos (too small to see the gender yet) 1 golden snail and 9 baby snails. Guess I'm pussing limits here. I'll keep a close eye on them. (will move the bristlenose plecos once they're bigger)
My kids love them, the baby tries to grab it!
Thanks for a very interesting site.

| Hello Everyone
I am new to your informational forum. I currently have a brand new 5g fish tank with nothing in it and joined to learn how to properly house some new pet fish with live plants. I have 2 pets already, 1 dog named Go-Go (6yrs.) and 1 cat named Kitty The Kat (9yrs.) I live in Maryland with my newly wedded husband, but am originally from South Korea. I am a novice fish keeper and am excited to learn about having a healthy and beautiful aquarium. I really think I came down with some Betta fever cos that's all I have been able to think about for the past month! Hence the new tank I just bought. I have been trying to keep my impulse fish buying down and not add anything to my tank yet for fear of not doing it properly b/c I really don't want to be a fish murderer I am open to any advise anyone has and have been reading some of your posts about Bettas and live plants. Unfortunately, it just makes me want to get a new fish even more so, haha! |

| Hello People!
I am not Midas and have recently been drawn into the mysterious world of fish keeping. It all started on a cold and windy September morning as I lowered the small cardboard coffin of my sister's hamster into the soft muddy ground when a revelation came to me - I want to get a fish! I've never kept anything aquatic before (except the occassional seasonal tadpole) and the contained neatness of aquaria intrigued me. And also they were the only pets my landlord would allow. Now I've been having great fun playing the alchemist shaking up vials of coloured chemicals, but can't wait to get my fishies! |

| Greetings Fish Lovers,
I'm not new to fish as I use to keep a 30g freshwater tank at the foot of my bed as a teenager for a few years. I had Blue Gouramis and Convicts. They were great to watch while I daydreamed in bed. And that was before I knew anything about proper water conditioning (siphon tank, insert garden hose!) and the nitrogen cycle. 15 yrs later I'm back at it again except that it started with an adopted Betta. A co-worker had him on his desk and I knew nothing about keeping them, but I had always wanted one.
Long story short, my adopted fish died very shortly after receiving him after I transferred him to a 3g (from a 1/2g). While the transfer most likely was too quick I really think he was on his last "fin" anyway as he looked really sad when I adopted him.
I discovered Fishlore while trying to find out how to save him and when he passed I kept reading and decided I wanted to give it another try - besides I already had a great setup going for me. Now I have a new, spry li'l red Crowntail, [Cam]Bodie, that is so fun to watch (I don't get much work done as of late).
Something tells me it won't be long before my husband and I start another tank at the house ( MTS, anyone?). We're thinking Cichilds, plus another Betta setup. Quote:
