Hey, from Africa!

Hey guys.
New here.

I was searching around for one of the larger fish forums, and decided on this one, as the website is usefull too

Anyways.... I'm sasha, Im a 19 year old male from Cape Town, south africa (yes, africa).

Currently working as tech support at an ISP.
Gonna start my studies next year, brand communication and multi media design at a college here in SA.

for those of you who think south africa is all jungles, huts and native tribes, you're completely right

Just kidding...

Welll, i actually live about 10 minute from there, around the first mountain in place called hout Bay:

Large sea fish. Not anything that can be kept in a tank. We have icy cold waters

Fresh water... hmmm, bass, that's about all, but even still you dont really want to keep them in a tank. We also have large catfish in our rivers.
There may be some fish indigenous here that are used as pets as well, but im not aware of them.

I had read somewhere that bass and several other fish that were introduced into the South African lakes and rivers and had caused the indigeneous fish to become scarce. Was just curious what your native fish in the lakes and rivers were.

Well, our lakes and rivers arent tropical, they are brackish. it is possible that bass were introduced, im not 100% sure to be honest..
Karp and bass are common, but nothing pretty as far as I know.

You're not the only one from SA here. There's 3 that I regularly chat to, and who knows how many more I don't know about. It's good, as that's the same timezone as us, Central Europeans and UK.

We are 1 hour different from central europe and UK.
But we are 6 hours ahead of US and Canada :P
