After having read some of the posts here, I thought maybe I should introduce myself and explain how I got into the fish "experience". I am an elementary school teacher in beautiful Alberta, Canada. I got into fish by accident really. I was teaching a grade 6 class and wanted a class pet. I started out with stick insects, but soon found out they were illegal in Alberta. I gave them away and got a
betta, which soon died. (Again, a Walmart fish). The kids had loved the fish, so I bought a 10 gallon tank, and a few fish and was on my way. My job ended in June, so I brought the tank home, which was when the mollies started breeding. My sister kindly gave me a 20 gallon, which is home to all my mollies and my two red platies. I have had various fish, which have all since died. I had two beautiful leopard danios, who died within days of each other. I am not new to aquariums; when I was younger, my dad was into fish big time. I just thought I would explain why I am not a "real" fish person; I do enjoy the fish, and so does my cat, but it is not a passion for me - just a hobby. Anyways, they are all healthy for now, and enjoying life.
