80PPM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was told by my local fish store to change a little more water than usual for a couple weeks. It is sort of working but its not great, nitrates so far are still at around 20-40ppm (week 3 of extra water changing). If you have a better way to lower these level in an inexpensive way (I'm only 13 and have to pay for it myself) please tell me!
I would REALY appreciate it!

OK ... Welcome to High Nitrates Club ! LOL I'm the President

.. LOL . I can help for sure. I've tried everything, from starving the poor fish, water changes until my arms fell off (like in that milk commercial .. LOL) , a refugium with a big ball of cheato in it. Oh yeah I even tried sugar dosing

...!!! Still had high nitrates. My Nitrates were 120 ppm when I first tested for them, today they tested 0 (zero). OK ... So what works. Tank with a DSB (deep sand bed), 4"-6" of fine sugar size sand. I started with crushed coral in my tank, so I didn't want to change all that out again .... Way too much work ! So I went with a RDSB (remote deep sand bed). This is done by taking a simple 5 gallon bucket of fine sand and running your tank water over it, then pumping the water back up into the tank. Since I had a refugium already, I used that. I will try to find a picture of the bucket system. Hope this didn't confuse you ?
