You can stir the water to aereate it or do a water change each day. They can last a good while. We'll cross our fingers that it doesn't go out

Most of the LFS sell battery powered air pumps you could throw an air stone on one of those to keep it airated. Last power outage my buddy bought a car battery and a power inverter that ran his filters and heaters in 2 tanks (no lights) for 10 hours. I used a portable generator for mine.

A battey powered air pump would be a good idea, also if you have an external filter you probably want to throw the media (not the whole filter lol) in the tank so the bacteria dont die from lack of oxygen/heat inside the filter

Don't worry about lights, the tank can go for a very long time without lights. Rinse the filter media in used tank water and put the media into the tank it's self to keep it moist. Oxygen levels and temp are of most concern. Battery powered bubblers or as I said stirring the water and water changes will help. If your concerned about temp you can wrap blankets around the tank to keep the temp steady.

I worry about this too, we lose power quite a bit, but so far not long enough to effect anything.
I plan to use blankets and get the tanks nearer to the fireplace, if need be.

Fortunately I've only had 2 real power outages since I've started my tank. One was for 30 minutes and the last one that was a couple of weeks ago lasted for about 4 hours. That last one was unusually long. But temps were fine and I just kept a power head going from a couple of my UPS's that I had for my computer systems.
