Ph problems

My Ph in our 90 gallon reef has been 7.6-7.4. KH is 8 dhk. The AC in on.
The only thing I can think of is that there is to much CO2 in the basement, where the tank it located. I am thinking of putting a pump outside so I can pull in some outside air and then put a air stone in the sump. I don't know what is going on. All the fish and coral are open and doing fine!

Can any one think on what is going on?

ph shouldnt be a big issue..fish acclimate very well to it..so if your fish arent acting totally wacked, id leave it be

pH is a bigger deal in a sw reef tank than in fresh, and should ideally be in the 8.1 - 8.3 range.

Just to fish for some possibilities...What kind of substrate do you have? Are you using any additives of any kind? How often are you doing water changes?

I think the substrate is Aragonite but I am not sure. It looks like what we have in the tank

We do not do any additives,I am thinking of doing a Kalk drip but I have to read up on it more. I just did a water change yesterday. We try to do one 5 gallon WC every week or so.

Hmmm...unless anyone else has some better suggestions...

For your size tank, I would bump your water changes up to 10-15 gallons per week. Water changes help with buffering the tank, but 5 gallons on a 90 gallon tank is not really that much. For routine maintenance, I shoot for 15-20% water chagnes at a time. You might also look into something like Reef Buffer to help as well.

Did this just happen all of a sudden? What are all of your other water perameters? Calcium, Alkilinity?
Have you tested your water before you add it to the tank to see what your PH is before it goes into the tank. You might just have to buffer the water before you add it.

Alkilinity is KH and KH is 8 dhk. I don't know my Calcium as I don't have a usable test for it. Your talking WC water, yes we watch Ph when we do WC,but I did not this time because I knew that I could not match it as my Ph it low. I am going to run a air stone with the pump outside to get more O2 in the tank.

My tank went through that too, My ph was really low and like Sgould said with water changes and a ph reef puffer will help get it up again, thats how I solved mine too.
Good luck!!!

I also had to start adding buffer to get my Ph back to where it should be. It took a few weeks but it's back where it should be again.

I was told at my local LFS that the calcium additive that I use for the corals will bring down your Ph. At least I think it was the calcium...could be the strontium but I think it was calcium....
