Water Change

Hello everyone. I have a 30 gallon and did a 10% water change yesterday. I did a Nitrites test this morning and had a reading of .25 ppm. I used RO/DI water and it was perfect. What could have caused this spike? Will it come back down?

Is your tank cycled? How long has your tank been set up, and what fish do you have in the tank? Have you added any new fish lately?

My tank is cycled. It's been up and running for about 2 months now. I had added a basslett a couple days before...I'm guessing that's what might have raised my nitrites.

If your tank is cycled, the nitrites should disappear quickly. If they don't, next time you do a water change, use some amquel plus with your new water to neutralize the nitrites.
