I just read on the Tetra web site. They also say to add SafeStart after adding new fish and after water changes. So I guess I am a little confused as to why you would think Nite-out II is not in the same class. See the update I posted under my last thread where I posted the reply I got from Ecological Labs.

.TSS and bio spira has something called nitrospira live bacteria (self sustaining live bacteria that will die without ammonia or fish) and cycle, stress zyme ,fritz zyme, etc has nitrobacter which is in a suspended state(not live on arrival or addition) without an ammonia source(not self sustaining and needs to be added regularly with an ammonia source to wake it up in a sense)
