Prime

I am going through a time right now with ammonia levels. I have started doing daily water changes to help. I have read a lot in here about Prime and have started using that instead of Ammolock. My question is when using Prime, do you use that instead of or with other conditioners (AquaSafe)?

"instead of". It's a water conditioner the same as Aquasafe, it just has some additional benefits like it makes the ammonia nontoxic to fish but still available to the ammonia bacteria.

Instead of. Prime one of the top-quality conditioners that also detoxifies several toxins, heavy metals, and encourages slime-coat growth.

Yeah, I know that feeling

No worries, it all gets sorted after a while. Better to ask lots of questions!

What happen after 24 hours? does the ammonium revert back to ammonia after 24 hours? or is it simply nutralized for good?

Does it mean that Prime will detoxify ammonia as it build up for 24 hours and then stop working?

Or will it just release the ammonia back after 24 hours?

Will it bind to oxygen if there is not enough ammonia to bind with? like with an overdose of Prime?

I read that Prime will bind to oxygen if there is not ammonia to bind?

ammonia stays ammonia its just detoxed with the prime so its safer for the fish....its not neutralized for good just 24 hours until your next water change and addition of more prime...

prime is safe to use when there is 0 ammonia as well...its a water conditioner which removes chlorine/chlorimydes and other metals

I think that it's not so much that the ammonia reverts to a harmful state, but that the fish continue to produce ammonia, so by the next day, there is a toxic level of it again. However, I'm not positive of this.
Either way, Prime is only a stopgap solution. The origin of the problem needs to be dealt with at the same time.
I have not heard that Prime binds to oxygen, so I can't verify/deny that, but it's something to look into.
