dechlorinators

Hi all,

My current proceedur:

Siphon out 25% water in my weekly water change.
using a pipe directly from the tap pour the water back in...and then on the rule of 3 drops to a gallon of the dechlorinator.

Is this method correct??

the thing is that the tank houses 150 gallons of water and storing almost 40gallons for the water change is nearly impossible.

well, it all depends on what your decholinator says as far as how much of it to use, different brands require different amounts.

if your wanting to do store the store the water to let the chlorine evaporate you could use a NEW trash can or sterilite tub of some sort to store it for a couple of days, then just use a pump of some sort to feed from the trash can to the tank. doing that should eliminate the need for any dechlorinator

I have a 26g tank that I only use to filter water, chemically treat and heat prior to water changes. I do a change every 10 days. So by the end of the month I've changed close to half the water in my 155g. I know some people do their change right from the tap to the tank and then chemically treat. Honestly that kind of scares me a bit especially for people that have chlorinated city water. (I have well water so I don't have to worry about chlorine). Namehater gave you a good suggestion.
