Water Change methods

Hi to Everyone!

With my 60l tank, I have a 10l bucket with water on standby in our bathroom window which helps to keep it warm before we perform a water change. Once we have our 500l tank running, we would need the equivalent of up to 10 buckets on standby!
I am curious to find out if there is a better way of doing this, especially since it is important to minimize temperature differences and eliminate chlorine.

I would have to have water in our upstairs bath with a hose running downstairs running thru a heating device lol!

get some prime or stress coat+ for the chlorine issue..add it to the bucket for the entire tank size...and then finger test or buy a small thermometer for the buckets and trust me , after many water changes, you will be able to tell the temps with your fingers and know which is the right one for each change

Thanks Shawnie

Forgot to mention we do use prime. If you have water sitting in the window for a week, I understand the chlorine is supposed to dissipate, avoiding the use of chemicals.
Re: water temp - am more worried during winter months. Probably would have to add the water over time to minimize fluctuation in tank temp.

chlorine does, but chloramine tanks longer.. which is why you should use a product like stress coat

as for temperature, i just do things the easy way and use the shower to fill my barrels up.

as cordi said, letting water sit, does fine for chlorine..but most city water facilities, use chlorimydes as well as the chlorine which doesnt dissapear from sitting..hence the prime is needed...you can use warm water from the tap...the more water changes you do, the better you become a great "finger tester" to temps ...goodluck!

Thanks to you both

Should have realized there is so much info in this forum. I was looking at extending my inline home filter to include removal of chlorine etc, but is only set up on my cold water line. Warm water from the tap and adding Prime half hour before change looks like the best solution for me.
