I've got two five gallon tanks with one betta in each. Would three 15% water changes a week be sufficient? I have been doing the water changes at 15% every other day, which works fine, but since I am not home on Saturdays it kind of throws things off from time to time.

How long have the tanks been running? You don't usually need to do more than once a week when the tank is cycled.

One tank is cycled, one appears to be VERY close (has been running for 3 weeks or so, used a carbon filter from the cycled tank to speed up the process).

I do a 30% water change once a week in my filtered/cycled 5 gal, athough another wouldn't hurt.
