I'm so glad someone else asked the stars and squares question, have been wondering myself. I was also wondering about people's titles...Fish helper, fish keeper, fish addict etc. Of course I'm a newbie, and I get the moderators, but are these names people choose themselves or is it determined some other way?

Basically the stars determine how many post's you've made. The names are fixed titles that come with X amount of posts.

What the stars signify under user names

The boxes signify reputation points. Every member starts off with ten reputation points, and for every 25 reputation points you get, you get another square. It's a nice indicator to see who people think gives the best infomation. Here's the link:
