| | Fish Keeper | What's up with... People posting "sorry, I can't answer your question or help, but I'm sure someone else can"?
I'm sorry but I don't see how that helps anything in any way whatsoever except for cluttering up threads or padding post counts. I'm just wondering if there's a reason because it seems like the first 1-2 posts in most threads are like that. |

| | Moderator | usually its for a rise in their post count
and most of the time its a very young member who doesnt know better...
we try to stay on top of that but we cant always be there or see them all... |

| | Fish Keeper | Well to be honest, I completely disagree.
When I am a new member to a forum, I'd rather people post something so at least I know it's being read. When a new post doesn't get answered soon enough, it can get buried and lost. While I'm sure sometimes people might try to pad a post count, I think that most of the time they are just showing that they care about the initial poster's issues, and would like to help, but cannot. | | Fish Master | I agree, I think it's to bump the thread up so that it's read. I know I have some unanswered posts burried in the fishlore abyss. |

| | Moderator | Good morning. If I can't help a poster with personal experience, I try to post a link for information that they are looking for. It's always nice to be greeted if nothing else I have more fun playing on the site than worrying about what my post count is. |

I'll answer what I can, then be honest about what I can't.
If it's a new member, it's nice to know at least someone cares enough to read their post.
As far as padding post count, yes, this is true in some cases.
By the way, if anyone wants some post count, please feel free to take a few thousand from me. (I can't beleive I have that many......been waiting for Shawnie to catch me lol) |

I have for sure posted a couple of times for newer fishlorians (such as myself) just to get their thread higher on the list so that theyd get some attention. Never have I posted to increase my number of posts. Who gives a darn how many posts I have or you have?
In fact, yesterday I posted a thread which didnt get a response and later in the day I posted it again with the question:"can anyone help"-and i still haven't gotten help with it.
There: got that off my chest.
Thank you

| | Moderator | If there is a thread with no replies, it usually means someone either doesnt know, or it got moved down the line without an answer ...so bumping is ok..but dont always expect an answer because it doesnt always happen
check the threads without replies..theres a ton... |

| | Fish Keeper | There have been times that I have posted without a definite answer but just my opinion and just to welcome a new member. I know when I first joined it made me feel better to know that people were reading my questions whether or not they had an answer. I have come on here just to share a funny story, to ask a question or try to get some advice, and sometimes just to say hello. I have really gotten some great advice and IMO made some great friends on here. If you cannot talk openly with your friends who can you talk to. I really could care less about my post count in fact I don't know what it is I just come here to hang out, chat, and learn.
Sorry for the letter...I must be really chatty today.
I did not mean to offend anyone and I hope I did not. The only count I worry about everyday is my line count as an MT. Last edited by SWilkins; May 12th, 2009 at 12:33 PM.
