I have come on here just to share a funny story, to ask a question or try to get some advice, and sometimes just to say hello. I have really gotten some great advice and IMO made some great friends on here. If you cannot talk openly with your friends who can you talk to. I really could care less about my post count in fact I don't know what it is I just come here to hang out, chat, and learn.

Sorry for the letter...I must be really chatty today.

I did not mean to offend anyone and I hope I did not. The only count I worry about everyday is my line count as an MT.
thats me also!!! but whots MT?

and my reply wasnt to insiuate that ANYONE was doing this to raise their count, it was to point out that lately, thats been happeneing and I understand where aust is coming from....theres been alot of merging of back to back posts and just things that arent really needed to help and thats where my comment was coming from

I also will post a hello or a welcome or "I hope someone can help" if I cant, as it is proper to welcome everyone!!!

I made a thread awhile back as I was getting irritated that all the negative attacking posts, got ALOT more attention than a "welcome to a new member" post did...I think all us members should be welcoming new ppl to our site and also, helping whenever they can

this is a place where alot of us have made some amazing friends and I hope that it continues for a long time

If it's a question I can't answer, I am usually curious as to what others can come up with, so I try to boost it back up to the front page. Everyone deserves an answer to their question if at all possible, and I know from experience that it is disheartening to feel like no one cared at all. Sometimes I post as a placeholder to let the OP know that I am going to do some research on the subject as soon as I can. It gives a little hope that help is coming soon. On aquaria central, I often post on reply-less threads to be supportive and make it more likely that the much-more-knowledgeable members there will see it.

A lot of members are defending why or the way they post.
I just want to say, if The Moderation Team has not contacted you, you're fine.

I didn't want to see anyone being afraid to welcome a new member even if you couldn't help with their question.

I think it's all a matter of degrees. If one person just goes around and answers every post like this, it will get annoying. However, if it's just once in awhile aiming it at a newer member, or doing it to bump an ignored post (I've done this before when I couldn't answer a member's question), that's a different story.

Personally, if my question can't be answered (yet) by someone but they post that 'someone should help soon', I don't mind in the slightest, as that at least means ppl are looking at it and indeed, someone will likely help soon I've never thought it was done to up post count. I never look at that usually, mine or others', and every once in a while I look at my own and have a bit of a shock Guess that means I'm enjoying FishLore!

EVERYONE that has answered this thread, is not the ones that post "I cant help you but I hope someone can" for no reason..which is what the OP was talking about ......or at least not from what ive seen so I hope no one takes it personal

Sorry Shawnie. I have a program on my work computer that changes my abbreviations into the long version. I have to go back a lot on here to fix things that I have shortcuts for. I do medical transcription and have been for probably 14-15 years now. So I get to work at home with my fishes.

Well, it looks like I'm only one of a few that feel this way. Oh well. It just seems what when I ask for help I don't want to see someone who responded but didn't help or provide any useful info because I get all excited seeing a response, and let down when I read it.

Jeff:
Look at it this way, everyone who read this thread will know not to respond to your posts unless they have the answers for you. !!! You lucked out anyway.
