Seeing stars...and green squares

I've looked all over and can't find my answer.

What do the stars and green squares mean under users names when they post?

stars are for how many posts you have posted and the green dots are for the rep points other memebers have given you for your advice

How do we give points to someone?

In the lower left corner of a person's info (to the left of the actual post) there's a little image of a set of scales (as in what Justice is holding). Click that.

You might need a certain amount of posts to give rep points.

Do you see a scale on the bottom of the box with your name between the on-line button and the report post button?
It looks like califlower to me, but someone said it was a scale. lol
