All I have around me is Petsmart and Petco type stores. The one purely fish store I found was a huge disappointment. I'd really like to find a true LFS, but I still haven't been able to find one. Anyone in the area know of any? If not what store do you prefer to go to for your supplies?

Are you anywhere near Arlington ? My sister and bro-in-law live there, and have 2 fabulous non-chain fish stores near them, they carry everything-- supplies, great fish, frozen fish food, the works. If you do live near there, I can call her and get the name of the shops for you.

if you want to slip over to Maryland in Kensington is Congressional Aquarium....never been there but have heard of it.

my sister says Wally's is good. They have both marine & freshwater fish & supplies.

I actually have been to Wally's once, but when I went I wasn't very happy with it because a lot of their fish were sick and they weren't very well stocked with supplies...maybe it was just bad timing, but I will definitely look into the second one you mentioned.

I used to use Super Petz for all my Freshwater fish when I was actively keeping them. I'm getting ready to start up a 75+ gallon Salt Water Reef Tank.
Super Petz has gotten a lot better than it was 10 years ago. They used to sell sick fish and on a few occasions they wiped out my tank with diseases. (Probably my fault for not using a quarantine tank but hey I was 15!)
I haven't had problems with them for a couple years and their fish and tanks look MUCH better.

I'll have to try Wally's out too I work right here in Arlington.
