A & B Oddball Aquatics, Pittsburgh, PA

Found a great little hole-in the wall type place, run by enthusiasts, not by a corporation. They have a great stock of fish you don't find everyday, raise a lot of their stuff in house, and will find what you want if they don't have it. A good bit of stuff for the planted tank people as well.

It's hard to find, being tucked in a residential neighborhood, but worth the effort. Just don't expect a shiny, glamorous retail operation, it's bare bones, plywood and insulation. All the money goes into the stock. I saw at least a dozen different L numbers you don't normally find, probably 30 different types of cories, more holey rock than texas has left, at least a hundred different pieces of Malaysian driftwood from the size of your thumb to the size of a small child, all sorts of neat stuff.

This is the place Eric Bodrock had founded, and Tim seems to have taken Eric's initial concept and love of the hobby and ran with it.

That sounds like a place to check out, I love mom and pops type of fish mail order places, that is where I think you find your best quality of fish!

Eric is a serious hobbyist in the Pittsburg area.
He gives talks nationwide on both his setup and the fish he has worked with.

He's also notorious for bringing in new species to the country, and getting them bred for the American market. That man has more energy in his pinky than I will most likely have in any six month period.

Dino, you forgot the "h"

I noticed on the website he did saltwater? I am so anti-LFS how do you find out what stock he has to order?

I don't think they have much up for salt water at this time. Sadly, it seems they are going to be victims of the lousy economy, the store is up for sale. Wish I had the money to buy it (c'mon Powerball!) I hate to see little places like this go belly up. Enthusiasts frequently don't have a great deal of business savvy. This shop is no exception. I'll be meeting with the owner at the GPASI meeting Friday night, I'll pass along any news I can as I hear it.

Hopefully it will be a stock list I can post, not clearance specials.
