Okay in Bridgeville (part of Pittsburgh, PA) was this pretty good fish store (pet supplies plus was the same of place).

The owners of the store were not like fishlore, but definitely not idiots.

It was a nice place that was close, and the tanks were well maintained (i never once saw a sick fish while in the store).

Well the place changed ownership and some of the guys that ran the aquatic section were no longer there, though now I don't know who is running that section now.

Let's just say I have never been so sick in my whole life..

I will spare the details, suffice to say that I will not be going there again...

I may look into laws on fish keeping.. I mean sure they aren't as bad as having the wrong the species kept together, but my god is everything else bad ... it's really tempting me to find out if they can get in trouble for the way the tanks are kept..

it's really hard for a fish lover to walk into a place like that isn't it?

One would think that a Fish Store would be owned by people like Dino and CWC who love fish and know a lot about them. I don't know how these people get into the fish biz to begin with.

You can almost understand why a place like WalMart doesn't treat their fish properly, it's just another department of a big store, and the manager of the department might have been managing the electronics department the previous week.

But there is really no excuse for a Pet store and especially a dedicated fish store to be treating the fish improperly

Well it's really a dedicated fish store, but it does have it's own special section for the fish.

That does, however, not give it an excuse for how it's treating the fish. It is still a pet store, and they still need to treat them the way they treat the other pets.

I am very sad to see that it changed ownership, as now it's just a sad, sad place...

I don't want to go into details as much as I have to tell someone about the terrible place, but let's juts say that their coarls were NOT getting light (only the tip of the iceberg)

It's nice to have a place with people who understand to spout off about inhumane treatment of fish.
In the outside world people look at you like.....they're just fish.
