Well I have been to Feathers and Friends, Petland, and Petco. I havent been to Petsmart because I know they are bad.
F&F: I'll say that they know their fish and they wont sell unless they know that you are aware of what you are doing. They kind of are derogatory to all other stores. Saying they are cheap(in a bad way), etc. etc. I didn't like the owner he seemed kind of like a jerk and I tried to let him know that I knew everything he was trying to tell me but obviously he thought I didn't or something. It offended me!

They had good fish though. They were pretty low on stock though.... They also have reptiles and birds.
Petco: I knew the guy that works in the fish dept from a church that I used to go to. I remember him having a
SW tank. He was very knowledgeable and didn't just try to sell me stuff. He told me what was the high quality stuff(which matched yalls opinion) He steered me away from the kits. He said that they were basically (which I figured). The only bad thing is he was bias because he was in love with SW and I was trying to let him know that I definitely going with
FW but he kept trying to "convert" me. He was really relaxed and I saw him work with another customer and he was double checking and triple checking to amke sure that they knew the correct tank, and maintenance(they were buying a clown fish for their kid). They had alot of dead fish in the tanks and had small tanks though...
Petland: Probably the best of them all. They had a good selection. SW and FW. They had a wide variety of fish. I saw only about 4 dead fish TOTAL. The guy knew his fish. I overheard them talking about the coloring of a fish that didn't look right....so obviously they check each fish. They had really nice sized tanks for their sale tanks.
I am really impressed and I seem to be lucky from the stories I hear from you. This is just my personal opinions on the shops. They might be horrible compared to some others. But they seem pretty good.
