B&B Pet Stop is a great store in Mobile, Al that has been around since 1981. They have over 4000 gallons of freshwater, and 2000 gallons of saltwater, along with huge(200+ gallon)
live rock holding tank. Not only do they have all of these tanks in spectacular condition, but if you live within 10 miles, they will come to your house/office, and clean your tank to their same standards, performing a 20-30%
water change, replacing with R/O water with R/O Right added, test the water, change your filters, clean your tank inside & out, clean decorations, and clean and polish your equipment(light fixtures, filters, etc) for $60. They do this for salt or fresh water.
Now, when it comes down to prices, they are a bit on the steep side for supplies, but their huge selection of fish is very reasonably priced, especially for the condition they are in. In all my visits there, I have not seen any dead fish. This isn't to say it doesn't happen, just that they quickly remedy the situation, and remove the deceased. I have never had a fish purchased from there expire on me, and they offer a 14 day guarantee on all livestock just in case it did happen. If it does, you can also bring in a sample of your water, and they will test it for you in case it was your parameters that caused the fish to die. In this case, they will still replace it, but will help you fix your water first.
Now, for their promotional schemes(which work out great, IMO). For a one time $15 fee, you become a V.I.P.(very important pet) member, and you now save 10% on all livestock purchases, along with 5% off the bottom line. They also hold special sales each month only available to V.I.P. members.
Every 2nd Tuesday of each month, they have 2-fer Tuesday, at which time you can purchase one fish, and get another of the same species and value for only 2 cents! There is no limit. If they had two Joculator Pygmy Angelfish for $1000 each, you could buy one and get the second one for 2 cents.
They also have Ridiculous Fish Special each week, where one type of fish is sold at a ridiculous price.
All in all, its an excellent store with very knowledgable people that actually care about the health, happiness and general wellbeing of the livestock they are tending. Most of them are avid aquarium enthusiasts that know their stuff. They are very eager to help their customers, but would rather not sell you anything than let you take home a sick fish or a healthy one and make it sick. I make an hour long drive there just about twice a month, if for no other reason than to look around.
