| 100gal Salt Water Tank This is my journal to chronical the birth and growth of my 100gal saltwater tank.
The tank was a fresh water angel tank up untill a couple of months ago when the tank cracked down the entire side and 95+ gallons of water went all over my living room. I lost all of the fish and plants because I was in Las Vegas when it happend. So thanks to the help and generosity of my LFS who gave me a new tank for free and a stand for cost to replace the others I am stariting over. How ever this time I figured I would make the tank a Saltwater Reef tank.
First the basics.
100USgal tank
120lbs of sand
Fluval 405 canister filter system
250w ViaAqua Stainless Steel Heater
2 65w Actinic Blue lights
2 65w 12k Power Compact Lights
4 1w Lunar Lights
Here is a picture of the tank tanken 2 days ago.
As of today the water readings are pH 8.4
Amonia .2 nitrite .20 nitrate 20ppm phosphate 2.0
Clacium 560ppm
Hardness 14% salinity 1.235
It looks as though it is going through another mini cycle, I will just have to keep an eye on it and do a couple of water changes.
It is a start and I am excited to see how this turns out. Last edited by Tumbleweed; May 23rd, 2008 at 09:41 AM.

| Im glad you were able to bounce back after the first tank busted. Also it seems a perfect time to convert to saltwater. I wish i could afford it and thought i could handle it. It looks like you are on your way to a very nice looking tank. |

| I just purchased about 25lbs of Fiji live rock from my LFS and will be putting it in my tank tonight. I hope to snap a couple of pics of it to show before I head out of town for the weekend. Last edited by Tumbleweed; May 27th, 2008 at 11:56 PM.

| Here is a pic of what it looks like with the live rock. I also stopped by my LFS and picked up a protein skimmer. It is the Prizm Skimmer by Red Sea. It's a hang on the back filter, and is very narrow so it fit perfectl behind my tank. Hopefully it works well. |

| Just picked up a Imperator Angel, Mandarin Goby, and 3 red leg Hermit crabs today. The Imperator Angel was missed labeled as a Koran Angel, and was only $29.00. |

| Been a while since I have posted some new info on my tank. I am up to around 65-75lbs of live rock now. I have also added 2 Koralia powerheads to the tank to increase water flow. I also added a red sea prism skimmer as well. It is a HOB skimmer. not the greatest skimmer out there, but it will have to do untill I build my sump and refugium and can get a better skimmer. The wife has the camera at the moment but when she gets home later I will post a couple of new pics of the tank to show the progress. |

| Made some more changes to the tank yesterday and today. Added a 20gal sump with a Euro Reef RS135 skimmer. I used a rubber made bin for the sump, as nothing else would fit inside my stand. "and it was cheap "
I also got my RO/DI unit in today. Curently making water for my next water change. |
