I have 180 reef tank since June. I am lookingto add 1 or 2 more fish and then just continue adding LR and Coral. I am looking at adding a Blue Jax Trigger and a Ping Tail Trigger. From what I have researched they should not be a problem (maybe minor risk to shrimp), but am looking for advice from anyone with experience.

Current inhabitants:
1 sailfin tang
1 Kole Tang
1 Dragon Goby
1 Diamond Goby
2 Oscilery Clown
1 Hawkfish
1 Domino Damsel
1 Blue Damsel
3 peppermint schrimp
1 Cleaner Shrimp
1 firefish goby
2 bubble tip anemone (split from 1)
Several coral (finger leather, star polyp, brain, torch, Zoe)
Sea urchin
Turbo snails & Hermit crabs

They're a gamble. It all depends on the fish. It could kill your reef, it might be good, or it might all so eat your corals. I wouldn't take the risk because if you put it in there, it's almost impossible to taka him out if when you're stocked with LR and corals without taking apart your tank.

Sorry to hear that. From my reading I was hoping I found a couple of non-agressive triggers that I could keep.

Any suggestions on comperable additions. I'm looking to add 1 or 2 fish to draw attention. I lik ethe rest of my stock, but I want a couple of more significant additions.

That's the problem with triggers that I don't want to take the risk. There's a slight chance for example both of them may eat shrimp and they're aggressive all so. So you could try it, but make sure you have a back up plan.

If shrimp is the only I could move those to another tank. From what I can tell these two are not so aggressive. I am more concerned about the coral and crabs and snails as I thiink I need the clean-up crew.

I'm really liking the way the tank is coming together ans just want to add the wow effect with a fish or two. For some reason I really like the way the triggers look and ther are so many fish I can't have in the reef.

I'm still so new to the hobby and find it quite amazing. Many thanks for the input.

Could try some tangs ( blonde naso, chevron, etc) and maybe a copper band butterfly. I've heard that it's hard to make them eat and occasionally they may nip at corals, but it's unlikely. So the only set back is making them eat.

I've thought about the copper band, but they seem to be difficult to keep. I will need to research some tangs. I thought I was limited by which ones could co-exist with the Sailfin and Kole that I have.

You can never say for sure whether it will work or not, but if you really like the bluejaw I'd say go for it. I've talked with lots of folks that keep a bluejaw in a reef and I'd try it myself if I had a tank large enough. The bluejaw is reportedly one of the least aggressive triggers available.

Thanks. I am starting to lean toward giving it a try with a smaller Blue Jaw. At first I was thinking Pink Tail because I hear they are a bit more active, but the more I have read I think the Blue Jaw is a bit less aggressive. Two LFR have told be they are both OK and I've also read the same, although everyone has said it depends on the personality of the fish. I had not seen a Blue tail at a store until last weekend. The male is really quite nice.

Still researching. probably make a decision soon.
