What will live for only a year? The fish in the egg or the fish itself?
Best of luck with raising them btw!

Ya. Or at least when the water is added to the peat than a year later, the fish will die. In the wild they die because the water in their river dries up and than a few months later, the rainy season comes back and the eggs start to hatch and the process starts again. I don't know why they don't live for more than a year in the home aquarium since there will always be water in the tank.

Really?! All in all its rather odd to keep a fish that you know will die within a year but its interesting. Has ppl kept them for a year+ and seen that they don't survive?

Hey, there was only 15 out of the 50 eggs that hatched, so there are still quite a few more.
