I have recently had a heater meltdown in my 29 gallon and need to restock my tank. My Stealth heater over heated and my water reached 92.7 degrees! Needless to say I have lost 10 of my 11 Neons and 4 of my 7 Colombian Tetras. I plan to move the remaining Tetras to my newly aquired Metaframe 10 gallon until they are in better health at which time I will trade them in at my LFS.

I plan to restock my tank with hardier fish! I was thinking of eitehr Rainbows or Barbs or Rasboras or a combo of these.

The only thing is that my lovely 3 inch Gold Angel fish lived through the heat, which I am exceedingly happy about! However my question for you guys is can I keep a medium school of Tiger Barbs with my Angel?

I was thinking 8 or so...

I've never kept them together but I'm afraid the angels beautiful flowy fins will be too much temptation for the tiger barbs.

yeah... it *could* work but I wouldn't risk it for your angel's sake....

tiger barbs wont go with angels im afraid ,the angel would be nipped but you could put the rainbows with the angel !

I've heard of a couple people on simply discus that lost a lot of Discus over stealth heaters not cutting off, I'd steer clear of them, or at least use 2 small ones so that overheating can't occur.

I'm looking at a new heater on DFS...Maybe Visi-therm.

But about fish. I would LOVE to get Rainbows...my only problem is the only ones I can get around here are the Boeseman. While beautiful they also get rather big for a 29 gallon...I would want a medium school of 8 to 10 and I think that would limit any other fish from the tank.

Also my angel doesn't have long flowing fins he isn't a veil tail. and he is the one that chases the Colombians away during feeding.
