Thanks to advice and suggestions of several members, I finally decided on Tiger barbs for my 40g that was already housing 2 Firemouths. 12 TB's were placed in the aquarium 3 days ago and so far everything is going well.
Having never kept TB's before, I am new to their seemingly unique behavior. It's very interesting to see all 12 TB's follow my male FM around as if they were puppies or ducklings following their mother. The other behavior that seems strange is when they do some sort of "nose-stand" after eating. They all congregate in one corner of the tank and remain motionless with their noses almost straight down towards the bottom. This behavior lasts for about 15 minutes and then they go about their activities as normal.
Anyone have an explaination for this behavior?
