I just got 6 tiger barbs to add ot my new tank and all they seem to do is chase and fight each other. Would anyone know why this is ?

Thats common for these fish try getting a few more that should help.

As Steen16 says, this is common behavior for semi-aggressive fish like Tiger Barbs. Getting a couple more may help, and try and make sure they're all about the same size as small ones may be picked on and even killed.

I had this happen when we tried with two barbs- surprisingly, the smaller one attacked the larger. Although I am not entirely sure, I would think you should either separate them or add more- otherwise the hierarchy won't be stable between them.

i had a school of 5 tiger barbs that werent getting along and when i put my redtail shark in with them the shark took over the tank. She picked on the barbs so much that i had to get 3 more to even the odds. Now that everyone knows their place the barbs stick together with no problems and the shark only bothers them when the sinking pellets are put in for her. Anyways thats how i handled my problem hope it helps.
