I currently have some zebra danios, and I have heard a lot of people say they have seen different varieties of fish school together - so my question is: Will tiger barbs and zebra danios school together, or should I still pick up 6 or more barbs to form their own regular school (or could I get away with a few less, since they'll be with other semi-aggressive, quick swimmers)?

Ive found that my tiger barbs dont school at all not even with each other, the only time there together is to fight, I keep mine with black skirt, black neon, and dwarf neon rainbows.

Tiger Barbs should always be in a school of 6 or more. They will school with eachother (at least in my experience) but they will not school with other fish. Usually when fish school together it is because they are from the same family or because they are similar in shape or color. For instance, I have two types of small rainbowfish that school together. My Gold and my Black Neon tetras school together. One fish that I have found will school with zebra danios is harlequin rasboras. Barbs may school with other barbs, but I would not keep Tiger barbs in a group of less than 6.

Unfortunately, your 14 gal. tank is already overstocked with 10 danios, and wouldn't be nearly big enough for tiger barbs even without the danios.

It think it depends! I have 4 dwarf puffers and my american flag fish will stay around very close to them sometimes....... actually I think she thinks shes a puffer LOL.
