Breeding

Generally speaking, how big are Tiger Barbs when they are sexually mature? I have 7 right now that are about 1 1/2 inches long and they seem to be getting (for lack of a better word) frisky with eachother. I have seen a couple male and females pair off and it looks like salmon breeding. They get next to eachother and the male kinda shakes next to the female... I haven't seen any eggs yet. Just wondering if they are mature enough to breed, or they are just... "practicing."

They are large enough to breed.
The eggs are probably being eatten by other fish.

To breed tigers, I would place them in a 10 gallon that has the bottom covered with marbels or gravel.
Add about 2 inches of water.
Place the fish in it for about 24 hours.
Remove fish.

With 3-4 days you should have fry.
Feed them green water or liquid fry food.

I'm not actually trying to breed them. I was just wondering if what I was seeing was what I think I was seeing. Come to think of it, they all looked like they were eating the whole time this was going on and it had been hours since I fed them.

Hmmm, I do have a 10g that is running now that won't have occupants for at least a few weeks. Maybe I'll give this breeding thing a try. There is a LFS nearby that would be able to take the new arrivals once they are big enough.
