Tiger barbs don't need hiding places, but they do appreciate a planted tank - real or fake plants will do!

I thingk the Tiger barbs are aggressive and dont need to hide if I remember what I read, thats why I didnt get them and got the Rosy barbs instead.

It has been my experience with tiger barbs that they appreciate plants and some cover, but the more you provide the less they seem to take it. but its beest to have at least a couple of fake or real plants for them to rest in. (Mine sleep in the large plant in my tank)

One of the secrets of good fishkeeping is:
The more you give your fish places to hide, the more they will be out in the open.
If they know they have plants to dart into/around, they feel less of a need to hide.

Do you mean to put the tiger barbs in a 10 gal. tank?
You won't be able to do that. Tiger barbs grow quite large, and you need a school of at least 6 to keep them from turning on each other. If there are only 2 or 3, the weaker will be harassed and picked on until there is only one left alive.
A larger school helps to dilute the aggression.

I love my Tiger Barbs. When I first started my tank back in Feb. I had 14 tiger barbs. Now I have 12 Tiger Barbs, 4 cherry barbs, 1 green barb and 1 albino barb. I had 2 ea of the green and albino, but recently lost one of each. I like barbs because they are so active and use up the entire tank.

they will pick in the weakest one till it dies and then choose the next weakest one untill you eventually have 1

I've had 4 tiger barbs in a 50 gallon for like 5 months, they don't fight with each other and they don't get eaten by others. seems like that guy has a bad experience or something.

You've got a nice big tank for them! IME, more space often = less aggression with many species.

Yeah, right, 10g and 50 g aren't same, 50 g is a huge space for 4 barbs that's why they r so calm, i think the situation will not be the same in a 10g!
