feeding

are tiger barbs like betas where they will keep eating as long as there is food in the tank resulting in lack of control for their swim bladder or constapation? my 5 barbs get 2 smaller meals daily. is this ok for them?

Re: feeding

Most fish will eat more than they should if you keep giving it to them. It sounds like your 2xs daily feeding is a good schedule for your tiger barbs. How much are you giving them at each meal? For five fish like the tiger barbs, that are not very big a small pinch between two fingers should be enough for each meal. Or another way to tell is watch how much they consume in two minutes. If there are still flakes floating around or on the bottom of the tank after that, you've fed them too much.

Re: feeding

thanks! I have bloodworms that I give to my discus tank, but I will have to see if the tiger barbs and serpae's and the black skirt tetras will eat them as well. The bloodworms are such a mess tho and really play havoc with the water quality. I only give the bloodworms to my Discus the day before I do their water change.

Re: feeding

no Im sure they didnt and ive read and heard that its not a good idea to feed fish cold fish food out of the fridge, its not good for their system. thats why its a good idea to let that frozen food thaw to room temp or hurry it along by adding tank water.
