I was wondering if setting up a 55 gallon tank with about 9 tiger barbs and up to 30 neon tetras would work. Neons are neither slow moving or long finned, but they're so small. do you think i would have any problems with this setup?

i think that would be OK as long as you have an odd number of barbs and there are plenty of hiding places but remember tiger barbs get at 2.5 inches when they grow up and neon's don't really surpass 1.5. I have 5 tiger barbs and there too busy chasing each other to worry about all the other fish

Most people would advise against any barbs and tetras being together, but I can't make fair call on this since the closest things I have had to barbs are danios and rasboras. They also say it's bad to keep tetras and angels together but mine are fine. It is really based on the personallity of your fish.

I have neons and tiger barbs together. My tiger barbs are so busy chasing each other that they don't bother the neons.

Ive never had neon tetras with tiger barbs, but I have had cardinal tetras with tiger barbs and the barbs never bothered them.
I know that neons are smaller than the cardinals so I couldnt say if they would be good together.
