Re: new tiger bars

You will want to find out just what kind of suckerfish you have. The most common ones are called plecos, and the "common pleco" gets HUGE. A 29 gallon tank would not be big enough to hold one of them full grown. There are other kinds of suckerfish that stay small, but they are not quite as easy to find, or inexpensive. Places sell the ones that get very big without telling customers about it, so you might need to trade them in for smaller fish.

Re: new tiger bars

Congratulations on your new fish. The general rule is one gallon per one inch that your fish will be full grown. It sounds to me like you are overstocked. The tiger barbs can get to be about 2 or 3 inches. So right there you are up to 15 gallons of water. Platy can get to be 3 inches or so and there is another 6 inches. Don't rosy barbs get to be 4 or 5 inches? I think that maybe if you don't want to get rid of any fish you would really need to stay ahead of your water changes and watch the health of your fish very closely. What kind of suckers do you have? If your suckers are common pleco you are in a little more trouble. Those little guys can get to be HUGE when full grown and usually need a 55gallon tank per one. I don't know off hand how big gourmi can get. Maybe someone with a little more experience can give you more advice. Good luck with your fish. I love my tiger barbs!

Re: new tiger bars

Depending on the type of Gourami they can get fron 3 inches up to quite a bit larger. Right now your tank sounds ok except for the plecos. Some of them can get quite large as has already been stated. I wouldn't add any more fish to the tank.
