Wanna slow down that AquaTech Filter?

I've done it!! I wedged a piece of filter floss between the intake tube and filter, raised the tube to reduce water intake, and made sure I shoved the floss down so that it was tightly wedged in there. Look at the picture, you'll see what I mean. Every water change, I scrub the outer part of the filter, and rinse the floss in very hot water. After a while I replace it.

Finally, a solution to the non-adjustable AquaTech filters!

Hey Thanks! I have these and I've tried everything (including packing the inside) to slow it down for my bettas. Those filters have a strong output! I'll give this a shot.

im not sure how good that is as far as the motor...I think it might burn out faster with the perpeller not being able to turn as it should...or not filter good enough....I could be wrong tho so maybe some other members will have some extra advice? ..I put the media more in the front and let it hang out of the outtake area to slow the current down...and if your intake is too much, id wrap some media around that area....I think the way you have it could damage the motor in the long run .heres what I do to my filters

im not by any means saying your wrong and im right, im just concerned with lifting up the intake bar and the perpeller ...

Hmmm, I do agree that it could wear out the motor if the tube isn't all the way down - it says something about that in the filter instructions.

But, I have mine packed like yours Shawnie (a little more so), as well as the intake area, but mine still gushes out like a waterfall. I had to put a tall plant in front of the outflow area to block it. It's just too strong for smaller tanks.

Maybe I should try a different filter fiber to stuff it with? I have stuffed with the fiber padding. Are you using filter floss? Is that where we are going wrong?

I've tried that method many times. Never worked for me

Hmmm... now that i think about it, you could be right Shawnie. I'll give that method another try, see if I can manage. And yes, these filters are WAAYYY too strong for smaller tanks...

the closer you let the filter media touch the water tfa, the slower the output is...but you have to have a good size chunk or it will just get blown back into the tank ...a good portion needs to hang down inside the filter and the rest hanging down in the water good luck!
