| | Fish Bum | Can Red Eyes Tetras be aggressive? I just buried my Green Cory "Ireland". Her fins were shredded. Last week I found one of my Cherry Barbs with shredded fins. She too died. My Red Eyes are in a school. I read Red Eyes are gentle, but can they have aggressive issues? Ireland was so quiet. I still have her tank mate Alba an albino Cory. I hope she does not fall victim. There are plenty of hiding places. Also, I have another albino Cory. She is missing. I've looked under every nook and crany. Last edited by Morgan; October 18th, 2009 at 09:50 PM.

| | Moderator | I'm sorry to hear about your fish.
I don't see anything in your aquarium info that mentions Cherry Barbs or Red Eye Tetras.
Could you update your aquarium info for us? Please include your water parameters.
Knowing this info will help the members help you. Thanks! |

| | Fish Keeper | So sorry about your fishies.
Did you add the Red Eyes first or last? I've never heard of any aggression coming from Red Eyed tetras. All tetras are schoolers and most of them aren't aggressive. As Lucy said, it would help if you could update your aquarium info. Keep us updated. |

| | Fish Keeper | Sorry to hear about your Cory Could you list all the fish in tank? This could help identify the culprit. |

| | Fish Keeper | Thanks for updating it. According to your aquarium info, you still have a some ammonia in the tank. Try getting your hands on a bottle of prime for your tank and continue to do a 20-30% water change to bring the ammonia down. If I could ask, what are your nitrite readings? Is it 0? |

| | Fish Keeper | I wouldn't expect the Cherry Barbs to fin nip, especially if you have a school of them. I'm not familiar with red eye tetras, although some tetras can be nippy at times. |

| | Fish Bum | I don't have a test kit, so I take my sample to the LFS. The girl and I both looked at the results. Nitrites were 0. Ammonia was "is it 0 or .25?" That's why I listedit 0- .25. I have Prime and have used it for every water change. Before I found Ireland dead and the other albino missing, I did a water change. |

For your missing albino, have you checked under the decorations? He could be taking a nap or hiding somewhere. Or have you checked the filter inlet? I found mine stuck in my filter inlet, luckily I got him out in time and he came out with only a damaged fin. |

| | Fish Bum | I can't find the albino anywhere. I looked under the deco, inside. My filter is a internal filter. There is only one open spot and the albino is too big to fit through the spout. I looked under the filer, on the sides. Felt around it too. I even used a flashlight. I thoght maybe she even jumped out as I have no hood. But as I have a tall tank, a show tank, I did not fill it all the way to the top, just so no fish can jump out. I looked around the floor, behind the tank, nothing. |

| | Fish Keeper | IMO, you could wait it out for a few days, give her some time. She might appear in the tank again. Try not to bother your other fish as you don't want to stress them out. I'm sure other members have other advice. Hang in there. |

| | Moderator | Hello Morgan. So sorry to hear about your fish loss and your missing fish. It would be much better for you and your fish to have your own API (liquid) Master Test Kit if and when you have the means. I'm don't know what type of tests your LFS uses but if they use test strips they can be unreliable compared to the liquid test kits.
Best of luck and I hope the missing fish appears soon!

| | Fish Bum | My LFS uses API Master kit. They only carry that one. At this time I can't get one. Been out of work over two years due to illness. Parents help me out. As they have forked out quite a bit already on the fish and on medical equipement for me, I don't want them spend anymore. This Winter I plan on trying to go back to work. If I get to go back, I have plans for my first paycheck. |

| | Fish Bum | Thanks. Already feeling better, finally. Hopefully will be going back to work this Winter....but not before I spend 3 weeks in Maryland with my sister and B-I-L. Though, now I wonder if that is such a good idea, leaving the fishies with the parents Thanks for all the help everyone. |
