Am I right that silver dollars are in the tetra family? If so how can I tell the sex of my silver dollars. They are about 2.5-3" in dia. I have 6. If they arn't in the tetra family what family are they in??

It's my understanding that you cannot always sex them by the red on the fins. Males are identified by their rounded anal fin. Females anal fin continues in a straight line from the vent to the tip of the fin. The red on their fins gets more intense when they are ready to spawn.
