| Which tetras Most of my fish recently died, including all of my tetras except 1 neon. Now all I have are my pearl gouramis, otos, and cories(some of them might die in the day to come too ) My tank looks pretty empty. This 38 gallon aquarium with 2 gouramis and some scavengers. I want some small schooling fish but I dont know what to get. Are there any schooling fish besides tetras?
I had 5 rummy-nose and 8 neons. I liked the balance of size in that combo. If I dont want rummy-noses and neons, what can I get that will look good and survive pearl gouramis? |

| i'm sorry you lost your fish
i think lemon tetras are nice looking, if you want something other than tetras, harlequin rasboras are pretty neat fish, but i'm definitely partial to the rummy-nose tetras |

| Hi, im sorry you had to loose your fish, have you identified the cause of the deaths that would be the best thing to do before adding any more fish. do you own a test kit your water parameters ammonia, nitrites and nitrates would be a good starting point.

| They died because my dad got ICH medication that killed small fish, I started a thread in freshwater fish diseases if you want to see. Its called massacre by ich medication(a fitting name). Ill wait for the medicine to clear before I get more fish.
I liked the rummy-nose tetras too.Ill probably get more. I want something colorful, but highlighting the pearls could be a good idea. I dont really like lemon tetras, no offense. I was thinking about something a variety of skirted tetras, blacks, golds, whites, and maybe blueberry..., I dont want to encourage painting fish though. Would gouramis attack blackskirts or vice-versa? Last edited by PugsAndKitties; January 27th, 2009 at 10:46 PM.

| I know that painting isnt as bad as what they do to glassfish, but im still not sure if i want to endorse that kind of thing. Is it so bad that aquarists should avoid painted fish? |
