colombian tetra odd schooling behavior

i current have 5 colombian tetras that were purchased and introduced on 2 seprate occasion quite far apart they are all of roughly equal size

they have strange behavior though

they rarely all school togther but instead seperate into a group of 3 and a group of 2

they will often become aggressive toward others trying to join thier school often chasing them away

seems strange to me that they dont get along maybe i just worry too much

is this normal behavior?

My black skirts used to just mingle and never did actively shoal. Both black skirts and columbians can be aggressive with one another and are both not the most active schoolers

Could it be a group of males, and then a group of females? That may explain the split with the two groups =)

i hear they're very easy to breed and require little to no effort. However, I dont know how reliable my source was, so dont count on it
