Are rummynose tetras or red eye tetras fin nippers? I know that many varieties are, but from what I've read of these guys, they're not. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with them.

IF kept in groups they won't, but if theres only like two they will.

Does it have to be schools of their breed to keep them from nipping or just a community aquarium with several other breeds?

I think the general rule of thumb for tetras is similar shapes and sizes will school together, but it always doesn't work out that way. I would get at least 6 or 7 of the Red Eyes.

I have 5 black phantom tetras and they dont nip at all, I think its multiple issues.... each fish has its own personality, tank size is important, and also tankmates can make a difference =)
