Those are stunning little fish. But I hate to say this, I don't think they are tetras or even a charicin, mostly because they don't have the adipose fin.

Whatever they are, they sure are beautiful.

They are a recent find (1997) and, for the time being, appear to be lumped with characin. This may change, however, as other ichthyologists examine the fish and attempt to place it in a better family.
