Could this be due to stress? I have 7 of them. There is a group of three and the other 4 are paired off. What is going on in there? I hope there wont be any gang related violence.

No, they are probaly splitting mated from single. This is nothing to worry about as far as I know.

Are you telling me they are mating? I should have made clear that this is a new tank and they may be stressed. Even considering that fact I would think they would group together for comfort and protection.

did you cycle the tank yet? if not, then they are stressed

then... (sigh) 50% daily water changes with Prime water conditioner preferibly, testing the water daily until the tank is cycled...
