Today's the day! My mollies find a new home & I get tetras!

Today's the day.

My "leftover" molly fry (6 months old) are finding a new home leaving me with an empty tank.

I'm on my way to drop them off and then off to the LFS to get me some cardinal tetras.. and if not, neons.

AWESOME! I love both of those kinds of fish. Striking neon blue coloration and blood red streaks. Beautiful.

Cardinals are beautiful, I've only seen them once around here. When my tank was finally cycled, I could find them and got neons instead. I love them.

Hi Amnagria..
Did you get your cardinal tetras? Hope you were able to find them. They are great little fish... and look so nice in a school swimming around the tank.I just love them.
Hope you had good luck with the search.... and stopped to check out the betta's while you were there! lol...

lol I couldn't find cardinal tetras.

However, I came home with a bunch of neons so I'm still happy!

I stopped and looked at the bettas.... I don't want to get one until I move, (less stress for the BOTH of us...) but I couldn't help but look. I also felt torn about when I finally do pick one out... do I get the one I feel is most in need? or do I get the one that I think is the prettiest?! Ug....

I picked up some new asian decor as well... I still need a ton of fake plants to complete it all... and I'm looking for a buddha head lol.. so I think it'll take me all summer to complete the landscaping but it looks so nice! The neons stick out so much!!

lol I actually just re-did it. It used to be bright red and black... Now it's all different colored brown/tan river stones of all sizes. All the decor is brown/stone colored and green plants in the back.

When I finish the decor I will take some pictures!

Sorry to hear about your guy...

Cardinals are usually hard to find around here, compared to the neons.. But the neons are as nice.
As far as which Betta to get.. one in need or the prettiest, Id like to give my opinion on that.
I think.. that you should get the prettiest and healthiest Betta you can find for your first Betta! One that truly catches your eye. There will be another time that you can find a rescue Betta and try to help it. And since it will be your first Betta, why set yourself up for a heartbreak in case a sick one doesnt make it? Learn all about the Betta when you get your's, enjoy it.. and in time you can decide if you want another to rescue. But if you find one that looks sick.. you will have to have a QT tank set up for it, I doubt you would want to put a sick one in with your healthy Betta ( if you used a divided tank)..
Just my two cents worth lol...

Just watch the neons with a betta as they are nippers where the Cardinals do not nip. So they will have to be watched as the bettas do not recognize them as threats and will allow them to do it and end up with a roaring case of finrot! But if you are lucky maybe your betta will fight back and they will behave.

I'm not going to put a betta in this tank.

It was just an idea I was throwing around to see what everyone thought.
